Hello Brothers and Sisters,
As I'm sure you all aware under the sad circumstances, the Alumni meeting has been canceled this upcoming weekend.
For those of you who haven't heard, this past Wednesday we lost our dearest brother, Karl B. McGaw to cancer. Karl as you all know was such an integral part to the Kappa organization as a whole. He became a brother when he pledging Kappa Delta Phi in 1960. He was the active brother's advisor right up to his retirement from Husson. Helped establish the Kappa Alumni association back in the 80's. I don't think there's a brother or sister that doesn't have a fond memory of Karl from years at college or from an anniversary. We all loved him and he will surely be missed. If you have a moment, please stop by www.clayfuneralhome.com and read his Obituary. There is also an area on the funeral home website to leave a condolence.
In respect to Karl, we made the decision to cancel the alumni meeting. We know people would want to pay their respects. We will we postpone the meeting until after the holidays into the early spring around the March timeframe. This will also give the alumni the opportunity that might not have been able to make it this weekend. We will be sending out information as well to try and rebuild the alumni association.
I would like to personally thank Misty Coolidge and Sid Snow who had planned the whole entire meeting for this weekend. They did all of work not only putting together the details for where and when but also making a lot of calls to get the involvement of the alumni to gather for this weekend. They always have a lot of spirit and dedication planning our events and we're very luck to have them on our executive board.
This weekend I ask of all of you two small things. First: To remember Karl in thoughts. Reflect on a fond moment of him. Second: Call an old classmate that you haven't talked to in while. Something that I'm slowly realizing is that there is not enough time in the day to do everything. This weekend, take time out to catch up on some old times and find out what everyone is doing.
The year 2006 will bring a lot of new beginnings. We hope to regenerate the alumni association and get the Kappa Spirit flowing again. I hope this email finds everyone well and please drop me a line sometime.
May the Spirit Never Die,
Eric "Spanky" Moore
